SoulCore, an Awesome Way to Pray the Rosary
Updated: Aug 26
I heard about SoulCore as I was getting into Pietra Fitness and decided to try it out. I signed up for an online subscription. What a creative way to pray the rosary! I have been praying the rosary while walking for years, but I never did push-ups while praying the rosary! After recovering from that initial shock, I found the exercises to be conducive to meditation. The moves add beauty, rhythm, and meaning to the repetition of prayers. The instructors are very inspiring, sharing their hearts and their deep faith during their classes. They suggest modifications - if you can't do push-ups, for example - and have a variety of classes for all levels of fitness: stretching, strengthening, core, and mobility.
I recently attended a retreat hosted by Lily of the Valley Catholic Ministry. One of the guest speakers was a SoulCore leader. She incorporated the Divine Mercy Chaplet into the retreat through exercise. The experience of doing SoulCore in person was absolutely beautiful. We did not have much space, so everyone just stayed in their chairs. We stretched our upper bodies to the prayers, and it added a deeper dimension of meaning for me. All the ladies in the room with their arms stretched in the air was to me a snapshot of true worship.
